SCORM training for MMD’s

Role: Instructional Design and Multimedia Development

Overview: How can we ensure a vital process is followed down to the step level?

The limits

Our hosting service only allows our organization to create a limited number of eLearning courses each month. When we go over this amount it freezes our access to our courses. Management is frequently required to pay a fee to unfreeze our account. Neither in person or remote training of the topic has been effective in standardizing the process.

The challenge

I had never designed an internal training before, so I took it upon myself to standardize this information for the good of my team. I spent some time experimenting and failing to get the right content. I learned that creating a good relationship with your subject matter expert is very important because they always have more information than you do.

The growth

After creating the majority of the content, it became clear that the learner would benefit from an introduction to the overarching ideas of the training. I created a hypothetical, character based situation that would help the learner identify with the lesson material using a new tool I had never used before.

The resolution

I later shared the courses with management and almost all future internal trainings will be done in this manner. These courses were created using Adobe Captivate and the SCORM cloud.

To access these courses you must use the reviewer@atos.net email address and use the name reviewer.
